Layered look

We are seeing this look pop up everywhere. All though we have been seeing cowhide rugs for a while now in home decor we are seeing them "Layered" on natural jute rugs.
So I had my good friend Tara from junk restore grab me the 6X10 Tarnby Jute rug from Ikea while she was in Phoenix and tried the look myself.

Yes, I watch the Nate Berkus show. Frankly, he's HOT, and pretty talented too.
His show recently said the top 5 Design Trends of 2011.
One of them was mirrors, and things that are mirrored.
I have actually been begging my husband to get rid of all these mirrors he had out in the garage. But lucky for me...he didnt listen! I went and grabbed the best ones and used them as trays around the house.
I have one here in my living room on my coffee table:

I also put one here in my office:

I jazzed up my husbands bar  and made a little vignette with a mirror as a tray too:

Mirrors really do give the look of glam and they reflect much needed light in my house.
I also have a mirrored table in my living room next to the chair I just finished.

Pull out your mirrors and use them in creative ways!
I have several more to figure something out to do with them.

Left over fabric...

I am loving the Chevron print on my chair sooo much that i used the left over fabric to make these pillows.....

And this chair....

I love the way they turned out, especially since this is like my 3rd time using the sewing machine, and the fact that I cant upholster and I think I pretty much hate it now after stapling my pinky all the way to the bone. Nope not for me!
Anita does such a good job anyways, so I will just leave it to her now!

Chic Sofa

My good friend Anita a.k.a. "Niters" has a beautiful sofa she just finished and is wanting to sell.
She really did an amazing job!

It is done in Amy Butler fabric. Its also been scotch guarded too.

My favorite chair

Do you remember this chair?

Really a great chair. BUT...the seat really sagged and the fabric was not holding up. So I picked a new fabric and my good friend "Niters" re-did it for me.
Here it is now in all its glory!

She is sooo good at what she does, I think I will leave all the upholstering to her!
Now all I have to do is keep my family away from it!

I just dont have the time to makeover this headboard. I think its great as is, but some white glossy paint and maybe some rich smokey velvet fabric would be glam!

My closet

My closet is small. My husband has half my closet and another little closet. (he has a lot of suits)
So I decided to try to utilize the hall closet for my shoes. Since we are moving, I didnt want to do anything too crazy. Just a simple clean up.
Heres the befores:

My criteria for cleaning out was stained, stretched, dont wear often, just dont like, doesnt fit.
So here is what I cleaned out:

I cant believe how much stuff!

This might not look like a lot, but it was 5 garbage bags full!
So heres what it looks like all cleaned up. Nothing fancy or amazing, just clean and simple.

Wow...extra space!

I can actually see my clothes.

I had so much space above, I didnt have anything to put up there!

Its still a small space and I hope one day I will have a big closet again. Ohh...those were the days!

Treasure and Before and After

You remember these lamps I got at Savers a couple weeks ago:

I finally sprayed them. First with primer, and then with gloss yellow and a coat of high gloss poly after.

I am going to get shades for them today.
Also when we were in Palm Springs my hubs found some great vintage luggage. They actually had the whole set which was like 20 pieces. We just picked 2 of them. Wish we could have gotten them all!

Aren't they awesome! The leather handles and the detail in the stitching, oooohhhh!
